TIPS on Reading Individual Stock Graphs

The H J Heinz graph below allows a quick comparison of the Company’s “Mkt Cap” value (left light blue column) to these other financial statement items:
  • Total Revenues on a trailing twelve month (ttm) basis using the most recent S.E.C. filing information
  • E.B.I.T.D.A. (Earnings before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) ttm reflects the amount of cash flow is being generated.
  • Operating Profit ttm is operating profits after depreciation.
  • Tangible Assets are total assets as of the most recent quarter (MRQ) less intangible assets, such as Goodwill.
  • Total Liabilities mrq is all of the Company’s liabilities. Note: a glance over to E.B.I.T.D.A. can give you a feel for debt reduction ability from operations.
  • Working Capital is Current Assets mrq less current liabilities mrq showing short term liquidity.
  • Equity is Total Assets less Total Liabilities (mrq) showing the “book value”of the Company.
